Deck & Fence Staining on the Treasure Coast
Wood cleaned, brightened and sealed so the grain stays and the weather stays out.
Florida sun greys out bare wood quickly and the summer rain does the rest. Staining is as much about sealing the wood as it is about color.
We clean and brighten the wood first so the stain takes evenly, replace or secure anything loose, and seal it with a product matched to how much sun and traffic it gets.
What is included
- Cleaning and brightening to open the grain
- Popped nails and loose boards secured
- Mildew treated before anything is applied
- Transparent, semi-transparent or solid stains
- Sealers matched to sun and traffic exposure
- Railings, posts, gates and pergolas included
- Surrounding surfaces and plants protected
How the job runs
- 1
Clean
Wash and brighten the wood. Stain applied to dirty or greyed wood soaks in unevenly and blotches.
- 2
Dry
Wood has to come down to the right moisture level first, which usually means giving it a day.
- 3
Repair
Secure loose boards, set popped nails and flag anything that has rotted through.
- 4
Stain and seal
Even coats worked in with the grain, back-brushed so it penetrates instead of sitting on the surface.
Common questions
Stain or paint for a fence?
Stain lets the grain show and wears by fading rather than peeling, which makes recoating simpler. Solid stain and paint give more color but need more work down the road.
How often does a deck need redoing?
In this climate, every two to three years for a horizontal deck in full sun. Fences and shaded wood go longer.
Can you stain pressure-treated wood?
Yes, once it has dried out enough to accept stain. New pressure-treated lumber often needs to weather first, and we will tell you if yours is not ready.
